Miss You So Flippin' Much

It's time for a new challenge over at the Sunday Stamps blog and this time Stef has a great new sketch for us that uses a slimline design!

For my card I went with a min slimline card, so I could use the stitched mini slimline dies from MFT. The set I used is also MFT and is called Playful Penguins. I just adore this little penguin hanging out on a piece of ice.

I blended Stormy Sky and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide inks to create the water and the sky. When you're floating out there in the water it all kinds of blends together so I sprayed some water on the lower half of the card to make it look like water around the penguin and his ice shelf. After adhering the penguin to the card I then added some white dots in the sky as stars, because at this point I decided to add some stars that come in the set and make an evening scene.  I colored the stars with a metallic silver gel pen and then I added some Wink of Stella to the ice chunk for a little more sparkle.

I have a lot of friends and family that live far away so this card will come in handy!

Picture Perfect

I was doing so good, getting my cards made on time and posted and then boom, I got Covid for the 4th time and shortly after getting over that I flew down to OR to visit my youngest son and his girlfriend. Needless to say I got behind on card making but I'm back with this week's current Sunday Stamps challenge, albeit a few days late.

My youngest is a huge film buff so when I saw a recent MFT kit that was all about movies I had to get it. It's the first set I thought of when I saw this great sketch from Heather, although I did take some liberties with the sketch. The movie screen and curtains are the first panel and then the rows are the other 2 panels in the sketch.

Whenever I go visit my youngest we always end up going to the movies and the theater by his place is SO nice. The seats are recliners and they can be turned on to heat your back. Oh...my...gosh.....I always plop down, turn the heat on, stuff some popcorn in my face and then recline the chair as soon as the movie starts. Plus when you buy your ticket you pick out your seat, and there are specific spots I like to sit in so I love that we can choose our seating. I wish the theater by me here in Alaska would get a set up like that, I would probably go to the movies way more often than I do now!

Hello

A quick post for another card for the current sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches!

A friend moved to an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean last year and I’m late mailing out his Christmas gift. I didn’t want to include a Christmas card, even though it would have been appropriate for the package, so instead I used the set Sunkissed from SU. The image of palm trees, sand and water is perfect for where he is.

Fla-la-la-la-la-mingo

Happy Sunday! It's time for a new challenge over at the Sunday Stamps blog and this week we have a fun color challenge to play along with.

I always struggle with pink because I absolutely despise the color. After thinking about it for a while I decided to plan ahead and create a Christmas card for one of my best friends. She absolutely adores flamingoes and during the summer months has a bunch of plastic ones that she puts in her yard. It's quite the sight to see!

From the graphic I used the 2 shades of pink and the navy blue. My neutral color is gray and I snuck in a few small pops of color for the light strand.

My layout is from the current sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches. The shaded snow/ice behind the flamingos is in place of the heart and the flamingoes are in place of the greenery.

Make sure you head on over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us, we'd love to see what you'd do with these colors. There is also still time to play along with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge!

From All of Us

It's Sunday and you know what that means, a new challenge over at the Sunday Stamps blog! Deb has a super fun sketch for us this week.

For my card I pulled out the Party Puffins set from SU. This set is retiring but I won't be hiding it away. Puffins are one of my favorite animals and I always spend hours visiting them in the bird display at the Alaska Sealife Center in Seward.  I'll be using this set for many years to come!

I cut out the rectangles with a die and then popped up my stamped images on them. I stamped the sentiment in blue and then finished it all off with some green twine.

Merry Christmoose

This year I'm forcing myself to make time for my crafting, especially since one of my jobs can be pretty stressful. Getting the time to unwind and be creative is much needed for good mental health care. With this in mind I decided to play along with 2 challenges over at My Favorite Things...the Outside the Box challenge and the Ready, Set, Christmas! challenge. Anyone who knows me knows Christmas is my absolute favorite and I also really enjoy the box dies from MFT, so what better 2 to combine?!

It's been a pretty harsh winter here in my part of Alaska and it's been especially hard on the moose. When I was thinking about what kind of Christmas card I wanted to make I immediately thought of the Merry Christmoose set, it's one of my favorites. The theme for the Outside the Box challenge is Cozy at Home so I decided to do a box card with a moose sitting inside, a cup of hot chocolate in his hooves, the tree by the window with presents underneath and his 2 furry little friends close by. My living room is full of moose decorations so a girl can dream about a real moose hanging out in the living room right?

If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen my posts about this mama and her twin babies. Mama had a severely injured leg but it wasn't keeping her from moving around. They were hanging out in front of one of the stations for the fire dept I belong to and every day after my regular 9-5 I would go and check on them. On this day mama and one of the twins were hanging out on the snowmachine trail that runs in front of the station.

So Much Love

Happy Sunday! It's time for a new challenge over at the Sunday Stamps blog and this week we have a fun color challenge for everyone!

For my card I decided to use a Stampin'Up! set called Love For You. I used 4 of the colors from the graphic, all of them being 2022-2024 InColors.

The inspiration for my layout came from the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge. The "for" and "you" are in place of the 2 circles along the main circle and they are popped up for added dimension.

Make sure and head on over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us! There is also still some time to play along with Freshly Made Sketches, their challenge closes at noon PST on 3/20.
